Re: Very clear explanation
Thanks for your kind comments.  I listen to live music often and my mind goes off on these concepts into inventing.  Then of course I find that someone has already thought of it.  Many people comment that I'm too serious when I'm doing this and wearing my game face.  I just introduce myself as Ray Nitchke and confuse them further.  He was a very intense middle linebacker for the championship Packers team with an intimidating game face.

Re: Digital PWM
PWM is a fun concept for those of us who use it.   This column is visited by many hobbyists that are experiencing many concepts for the first time.  I try to cover the entire range.

Digital PWM
Modern general purpose and speciallized motor control SoCs from several manufacturers include counter/timer modules supporting PWM generation. Some targeted to BLDC motor control applications include other features like multi-channel synchronization referenced to pulse edge and pulse center, on-the-fly prescalers and divisors update and many other nice features.

I use PWM extensively, from LED/backlight dimming, to single bit DAC, to high voltage generation.

If I find the time I will share some day the design of one digital delay unit with single bit ADC, 64kbit memory and single bit DAC that a colleague and I designed almost 20 years ago for a guitar effects processor. The single bit DAC used PWM.

Very clear explanation
This is good, 192.168.0.1, i mean it,very  good.

It brought back memories of my early days learning about transistors. When I was in college, it was all about tubes, and semiconductors were in their infancy.

I still have some CK722 PNP junction transistors that were packaged in a blue case. I wonder if they still function.

Keep up the great work!

With all of the mergers, acquisitions, and spinoffs going on in the world, I’ve been thinking about writing an article on this subject for several years.
I have NDA’s to protect my client’s interests however at times they can be limiting to a point where they require adjustment. That’s why I read every NDA in full several times.
