Ecliptek samples MEMS oscillators

Costa Mesa, Calif. — Ecliptek Corp. has started to sample its EMO family of microelectromechanical system (MEMS) oscillators. The EMO oscillators use an internal MEMS resonator to primarily control the CMOS output frequency of the oscillator, and when used in conjunction with exclusive programming methods, the oscillators can be shipped in as little as two days for samples and two weeks for high-volume orders.

At the heart of the EMO oscillator design is a vibrating MEMS mechanical resonator that is said to be 100 times smaller than its consumer-grade quartz competitor. The EMO oscillators use QFN-type plastic injection molded packaging, which results in good thermal performance, high reliability, low lead inductance, and low cost, said the company.

The devices are available in the following package sizes: 5 x 7 mm, 3.2 x 5 mm, 2.5 x 3.2 mm, and 2.0 x 2.5 mm in supply voltage of 3.3 V, 2.5 V, or 1.8 V. Click here for more information about the EMO oscillators.

Pricing for the EMO series starts at $0.70 in volume production quantities. Samples and quotations can be requested from any of Ecliptek's authorized distributors.
