12-GHz digital phase shifter targets radar, satellite communications

Chelmsford, Mass. — Hittite introduced an MMIC 4-bit digital phase shifter standard product suitable for EW receivers, radar, satellite communications, and beamforming subassemblies from 8 to 12 GHz. The HMC543LC4B provides 0 to 360 degrees of phase coverage with a LSB of 22.5 degrees, has low RMS phase error of 5 degrees and insertion loss variation of ± 0.8 dB across all phase states. This phase shifter is controlled with complementary logic of 0/-3 V and requires no fixed-bias voltage. Simple external level-shifting circuitry can be used to convert a positive CMOS control voltage into complementary negative control signals.

Housed in a RoHS compliant 4 x 4-mm ceramic leadless SMT package, the HMC543LC4B is internally matched to 50Ψ and requires no external components. The HMC543LC4B complements Hittite's existing line of high performance analog phase shifters which provide frequency coverage from 5 to 18 GHz.
