San Jose, Calif.Avago Technologies says its ACPL-M50L single channel optocoupler operates on approximately 80 percent less drive current than today's standard 1MBd digital optocouplers.
Available in a small outline-5 (SO-5) package size, Avago's ACPL-M50L high speed digital optocoupler supports a wide supply voltage range from 2.7 to 24-volts and is driven by low forward drive current (IF > 3mA) with a high current transfer ratio (CTR > 80 percent min.) to allow direct drive from a microcontroller without the need to add a buffer chip.
Separate connections for the photodiode bias and output transistor collector of the ACPL-M50L increases its speed up to a hundred times over that of a conventional photo-transistor by reducing the base-collector capacitance. Additionally, this optocoupler operates over a wide temperature range from -40 to +105°C.
Key features include a 3mA drive current; open collector output; TTL compatibility; 15 kV/µS high Common-Mode Rejection at Vcm = 1500 V; low propagation delay of 1 ms maximum; and worldwide safety approvals pending: IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-5/UL 1577/CSA.
The ACPL-M50L is aimed at designers of communication interfaces, microcontroller system interfaces, switching power supplies, and digital isolation for A/D, D/A conversion applications.
