Advanced Analogic Technologies announced a 500 mA low dropout (LDO) linear regulator for battery-operated portable applications.
Featuring fast line and load transient response, high speed device turn-on and shut down, and excellent Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR), the AAT3239 LDO is ideal for high current loads in handheld portable electronics.
The AAT3239 offers better power handling and thermal performance than standard SOT and MSOP packages and is mounted in a specially-designed 3.0 x 2.85mm, 8-pin TSOPJW package. It offers a 500 mA output current, and is capable of supporting a wide range of low-voltage digital circuits in battery-powered applications. To help extend the battery life of portable devices, quiescent current is a low 70 mA.
In addition, the AAT3239 features a low-power shutdown mode, consuming less than 1mA. A reference bypass pin enhances PSRR performance and output noise by supporting the connection of a small external capacitor from the device's reference output to ground. At 300mA, AAT3239 's dropout voltage is typically 400 mV and accuracy is 1.5%. Integrated output short circuit protection and a thermal shutdown circuit protect the device in extreme operating conditions.
The AAT3239 comes in a compact TSOPJW-8 package in factory-programmed voltages of 1.5V, 1.85V or 3.3V. Pricing starts at $0.78 each in 1,000 unit quantities.
