8-bit MCU packs performance in small package

Austin, Tex. — Silicon Laboratories Inc. has launched a highly integrated 8-bit microcontroller (MCU) that combines a 25 MIPS CPU, 10-bit ADC and an internal ±2 % oscillator in a 3 x 3-mm package. The C8051T60x product family adds more than 60 small form-factor MCUs to the company's portfolio for cost-sensitive consumer and industrial applications including toys, camera modules, cell phone accessories, portable devices, home appliances and motor controllers.

Silicon Laboratories said the C8051T60x family offers the highest functional density in the 8-bit MCU market, which enables manufacturers to decrease the number of external components, reduce board space and ease design while reducing the total system cost. The C8051T60x is also pin compatible with Silicon Laboratories' C8051F30x Flash-based MCU family to allow for both upgraded and lower cost product versions without requiring the designer to develop multiple hardware platforms.

A development kit contains all the hardware and software required to develop an embedded system, including a socket-to-program one-time programmable (OTP) memory.

The C8051T60x family is on display at the International IC-China Conference and Exhibition/Embedded Systems Conference-China 2007.

Pricing: Starts at $0.45 in quantities of 10,000.
Product information: C8051T60x
