You find fractional sample delay (FSD) filters in many applications, including digital-modem synchronization, high-resolution pitch prediction, and musical-instrument sound synthesis. Marek Blok of the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland, presents a computationally efficient method for designing an optimal Chebyshev FSD filter with variable fractional delay, along with several illustrative examples of such filters.
