Atmel announced a low-power dual 8-bit A/D converter for multi-channel and low-power applications such as digital sampling oscilloscopes, ATE (Automated Test Equipment) and direct I/Q down-conversion.
The AT84AD004 device is a dual analog-to-digital converter, which provides 500 Msps sampling per channel encompassing 1 Gsps sampling from one channel in interleaving mode. It integrates dual on-chip track/holds that provide excellent dynamic performance over a 1 GHz input frequency bandwidth.
The Effective Number Of Bits (ENOB) is typically 7.3 bits at 500 Msps / 250 MHz (Nyquist). This performance is complemented by an on-chip dual 1:2 or 1:1 selectable data output demultiplexers and power consumption of 700 mW per channel.
