ON Semiconductor introduced the NCP2809, a cost effective stereo audio amplifier that improves sound quality and reduces part count in space-restricted wireless applications such as cell phones and portable music and game players. Because the circuit delivers 135mW to a 16 ohm load from a 2.5V to 5.5V Li-ion battery supply, it is ideal for low power portable audio equipment.
The device's ultra-low shutdown current and sleep mode features optimize power consumption for extended battery life. Excellent power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and a virtual ground between the stereo speakers eliminates the need for bulky DC-blocking output capacitors. This simplifies design and reduces system cost. Outstanding Total Harmonics Distortion plus Noise (THD+N) as low as 0.01% provides high-quality audio for wireless headset applications.
The device is offered with either an adjustable or fixed 0 dB gain depending on the specific needs of the designer.
