I have received an invitation by ROHM to a Paddock Tour which will be held at the venue of Formula E in their Brooklyn, New York race on July 12. This is part of the eventís worldwide racing tour.
When I was in my teens in the 60s, I used to go down to this very area to watch the illegal drag racing on Saturday nights---what a rush that was; eventually the NYPD police chased us---they were doing their job to keep the neighborhood safe. But it was fun while it lasted. This was the real ĎFast and Furiousí.
Intentionally, this event ties in with the Formula E Brooklyn, New York ePrix race that will take place on July 14th and 15th Ė the New York City ePrix.
ROHM is an official technical partner of the Venturi race team, they are providing their Full SiC Power Module inside team Venturiís inverter.
VENTURI Automobiles holds the FIA World Land Speed record for an all-electric vehicle. In 2016, the VENTURI Buckeye Bullet 3 set the official top recorded speed achieved by an electrically-driven car of 549 km/h on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

In 2013, VENTURI Automobiles entered the FIA Formula E series under the VENTURI Formula E Team name and became an FIA-approved manufacturer in 2015. VENTURI Automobiles supplies full powertrain systems for the VENTURI Formula E Team.
During the Paddock Tour, I will be able to talk with Mr. Franck, Venturi's Chief Technical Officer, and the drivers, as well as seeing Venturiís racing machine. A ROHM engineer will be on hand to discuss their SiC technology.
This is the second year that the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will return to Red Hook, Brooklyn for the season-finale of the 2018 Qatar Airways New York City E-Prix on July 14 and 15. There will be two races occurring back-to-back on July 15 in which all 10 racing teams and 20 drivers will compete on a track with a background view of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline.
This yearís race will be even longer than last yearís race at a total track span of 2.373 km, along the waterfront where drivers will race with a large audience waiting to see who the winner will be.
