Silicon Labs- an apology from me.
 "Silicon Labs has a wide offering although I find the selection table a little difficult to follow"

I originally wrote this blog around 15 months ago.I don't know if Silicon Labs has improved their product matrix since then or more likely, I was having a bad day. Either way this statement no longer holds true. In fact not only are all the details presented in the table, there is filter button marked "Display" on the upper right hand side which will allow you to zoom in on the features that are important.

As we deal with the vagaries of life and work, occasionally we come up with an idea to improve the process. If the idea is big enough or the inventor has entrepreneurial leanings there may be an attempt to commercialise the product/process. Sometimes pie-in-the-sky ideas seem too small and are left in a corner of the mind, only to reappear as someone else’s brilliant idea.

Early microcontrollers had fixed I/O. It may have been possible to connect one of several internal peripherals to the I/O pins, but those pins were restricted and there was never an option of conditioning those outputs
