Electronics technology may provide significant contribution to the development of electric vehicle technology by enhancing the travelling autonomy of this type of car, i.e. the average distance that could be travelled between two consecutive charges of its batteries, (see Figure 1):
Another important parameter that has to be taken into account when talking about electric vehicles is the elapsed time to recharge the batteries that, in many cases, has to be added to the average time between two consecutive charges to evaluate the overall autonomy of the electric vehicle. (see Table 1):
“Time to charge an electric car can take as little as 30 minutes or up to 12 hours. The time it takes to charge depends on the size of the battery and the speed of the charging point.”

It is evident that supercapacitor technology would be a perfect solution to realize the energy storage setup of electric vehicles, but there is a drawback of a low density of energy storage allowed by this type of capacitor. Till now.
The autonomy of electric vehicles may be dramatically increased indeed by a new discovery of a gel that increases the capacitance of electrolytic capacitors by 1000+ times actually sold on the market (see Figure.2):

Electronics technology could find a development boost from this new option to realize rechargeable supercapacitors that are going to be utilized as an important component integrated into the electric vehicle (see Figure 3).
