We are aware of how much technology is constantly evolving as we progress forward, hence introducing new innovations of technology. However, that does not mean that cars and electronics are about to make their relationship irrelevant or obsolete in the near future. This is because they are inter-dependent and one could probably not work during the absence of the other.
Reality check: Often what appears “on paper” to be a simple, trivial interconnect effort turns out to have real-world installation issues which require some extra time and attention, if not frustration.
Today’s cars are loaded with sensors and analog signal-conditioning components for basic operation, user convenience, and safety mandates, but there’s an upfront cost and complexity impact as well as longer-term implications that comes with these enhancements.
Silicon is a viable substrate for functions such as optical waveguides; a building block of interesting applications such as optical phased-arrays and lenless cameras.
Even the seemingly innocuous dripping of water can lead to some interesting and often counterintuitive scientific insight, if you have the right sensors to capture the critical data.
