Baseband chip enhances sound quality in mobile phones

Shanghai, China—Spreadtrum Communications Inc.'s SC6600H is an enhanced GSM/GPRS multimedia baseband chip optimized for mobile phones that combine music playback functions with CD sound quality.

The SC6600H supports half rate (HR), full rate (FR), enhanced full rate (EFR) and adaptive multi-rate (AMR) voice codecs. It also supports features such as GPRS multi-slot Class 10 voice recording and a Bluetooth interface.

The chip is available in a 240-ball LFBGA package, low-power design— 3V for I/O and 1.8V for core.
