Buck converters drive high-power white LEDs

Brooklyn, N.Y. — RECOM has introduced the RCD-24-x.xx series of LED drivers that offers both PWM and analog dimming control. The family of buck converters offers current outputs of 300, 350, 500, 600 and 700 mA, which can be adjusted using the analog dimming function. Simultaneously, the PWM dimming function that operates at a frequency range of 20 to 200 Hz can also be adjusted from 0 to 100%.

The buck converters feature an input range of 4.5 to 36 volts. There is also a standby function for battery-operated applications. The rated accuracy of the output current is ±2% and variations due to the input voltage range are ±1%.

The housing measures 22.1 x 12.6 x 8.5 mm and is made of UL94-V0 material. The drivers are available with either 6 pins or with four 100-mm long leads. Depending on volume requirements, customer specific versions may be available.

The operating temperature range is from -40° to 71°C (700 mA) or 85°C (350 mA) without derating. The MTBF of the 700 mA version (worst case) is of 516,000 hours at an environmental temperature of 71°C. EMC-compatibility with EN 55022 Class B is provided by the addition of two components. By using another four ceramic capacitors, the drivers are compatible with EN 61000 -4-2, -3, -4 und -6.

Pricing: Starts at $6.65 at 1,000 pieces for the RCD-24-0.35.
