Greenville, S.C. Kemet Corp. has expanded its surface-mount, multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) product portfolio in the C0G dielectric with the addition of more than 80 first-to-market part types, claims the company, that offer ultra-high-capacitance values with the stability and performance of a Class 1 dielectric in a 100% lead (Pb)-free and environmentally friendly package.
Targeting applications that are sensitive to electrically and/or mechanically induced circuit noise, the MLCCs offer capacitance values that have been extended in 10-, 16-, 25-, 50- and 100-volt rated EIA 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, and 1210 case sizes and include capacitance tolerance offerings of F (+/-1%), G (+/-2%), J (+/-5%), K (+/-10%) and M (+/- 20%).
HiCV values associated with this product offering include the following part types:
- 0402 case size: 2200 pF at 25 V, 1500 pF at 50 V and 1000 pF at 100 V
- 0603 case size: 0.015 uF at 25 V, 6800 pF at 50 V and 4700 pF at 100 V
- 0805 case size: 0.047 uF at 25 V, 0.022 uF at 50 V and 0.015 uF at 100 V
- 1206 case size: 0.082 uF at 50 V and 0.047 uF at 100 V
- 1210 case size: 0.15 uF at 50 V and 0.1uF at 100 V
With an operating temperature range of -55°C and +125°C, and with capacitance shift limited to +/-30 ppm/°C over that range, these devices are a suitable choice for audio applications. They are designed to provide circuit functions of critical timing and tuning-in applications for mobile communications, automotive electronics, and power supply circuits. These new products exhibit no piezoelectric properties as well as no capacitance change with respect to applied rated DC voltage or time, said Kemet.
All parts are environmentally friendly, in compliance with RoHS legislation and are offered in both commercial and automotive grades with 100% pure matte tin-plated terminations. Kemet plans to add large case SMD HiCV and tin/lead termination in the near future.
