Dallas—Texas Instruments' TPA203xD1 series of class-D audio amps for portable consumer electronics, taking half the board real-estate of competing solutions, claims an A-weighted noise floor of 27 µVrms, the lowest in the industry. TI says these amps improve PSRR by 20 dB and CMRR by 12 dB over competing devices.
The fixed-gain amps (2, 3, and 4 V/V versions available), which integrate the normally external matched input resistors to optimize noise performance and save space, have an efficiency of as high as 88 percent (2.75 watts to a 4-ohm load, 5-volt supply; 600 mW into 8 ohms, 3.6-volt supply). Typical CMRR is -69 dB and PSRR is -73 dB at 217 Hz. These devices are pin-compatible with the TPA2010D2 audio amp, a variable gain class-D amplifier.
