Clock generator boasts ultra low jitter

An ultra low jitter, dual-output clock generator, suited to Ethernet switches/routers and other networking applications, has been introduced by Maxim Integrated Products.

The MAX3622 boasts a low-noise VCO and proprietary PLL architecture to generate two ultra-lw-jitter, 0.14psRMS (typ) clock outputs from a 25MHz crystal resonator. To minimise jitter degradation in noisy power-supply environments, the generator provides -55dB PSNR (power-supply noise rejection).

Integrating LVPECL and LVCMOS buffers, the MAX3622 provides 125MHz LVCMOS and 156.25MHz LVPECL output frequencies simultaneously, thus reducing the number of crystal oscillators.

The part, which is available in a 16-pin TSSOP package, has been specified for the 0 to +70 degrees Celsius temperature range and operates from 3.3V 5%.
