Santa Clara, Calif.Catalyst Semiconductor Inc. is sampling its CAT5114 Digitally Programmable Potentiometer (DPP) in an 8-lead 2 x 2.5mm TDFN package.
According to Catalyst, the CAT5114 in a 2 x 2.5mm TDFN is the world's smallest non-volatile digital potentiometer, making it suitable for portable systems. The CAT5114 can also be used to replace mechanical potentiometers and trimpots in applications, including LCD screen adjustment; tamper-proof product calibration; contrast, brightness and volume control; gain adjustment; motor control and feedback systems.
The 32-tap, non-volatile digital potentiometer comes in 10-, 50-, 100-kohm versions.
The CAT5114 digital potentiometer is a pin-for-pin replacement for Intersil's X9315, but offers the small packaging. The CAT5114 is also functionally equivalent to Intersil's X93154 50-kOHM digital potentiometer, with additional 10-kohm and 100-kohm end-to-end resistance values and a wider supply voltage range (2.5V to 6V).
Pricing: $0.75 each in 10,000-piece quantities.
Availability: Sampling; projected lead-time for production quantities is six to eight weeks ARO.
