Dual-channel delay line provides 5 ns of delay per channel

San Jose, Calif. — Micrel Inc. has introduced its programmable dual-channel SY89297U delay line IC. The second generation device can be serially programmed to provide 5 ns of delay per channel while running up to 3.2 Gigabits per second/1.6 GHz. The delay is very linear and monotonic, which provides precise delay for high-speed applications, Micrel said.

Offering low-voltage operation of 2.5V ±5%, the SY89297U includes three-pin serial programming to adjust signal delays, and two channels for greater design flexibility. The part is designed to provide 10 ns of signal delay by using both channels. Multiple SY89297U devices can be cascaded to generate even higher delay. Device resolution is 5 ps programmable increments. Operation is guaranteed over the temperature range of 0°C to +75°C.

The patented 3-pin internal termination input allows use of the part with any differential (PECL, CML, or LVDS) signals. The device is offered in MLF packaging, which features low inductance and capacitance.
