Dual N-channel MOSFETs cut board space by 50%

San Jose, Calif.—Fairchild Semiconductor's two latest dual N-channel PowerTrench MOSFETs—the FDMS9600S and FDMS9620S—are two highly integrated modules that are designed to reduce board space while providing the ability to achieve higher conversion efficiency in synchronous buck designs.

Each module in the FDMS96xx series combines a high-side and low-side N-Channel MOSFET and one monolithically integrated Schottky diode into a 5mm x 6mm MLP package. Applications include notebook computers, small form-factor desktops, media center PCs, ultra-dense servers, blade servers, advanced gaming systems, graphic cards, networking and telecom equipment, and other DC-DC designs.

Each FDMS96xx module integrates three separate discrete components into a single MLP package, thereby saving more than 50 percent board space. Conventional synchronous buck converters typically include two SO8-packaged MOSFETs and one Schottky diode.

Pricing: In 1,000-piece quantities, the FDMS9600S costs $0.90 each and the
FDMS9620S costs $0.50.
Availability: Samples available now; delivery is six- to eight-weeks ARO.
Datasheets: FDMS9620S and FDMS9600S.
