The KGL5115KD IC is packaged in a 4-mm x 4-mm small ceramic package and offers low power consumption of 0.45-W at 2.3V-pp amplitude.
OKI will present the KGL5115KD at its booth (#3351) at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exposition and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOE2007), which will be held from March 27 to 29 at Anaheim, California.
“Our customers can now achieve 10-Gbits/s pluggable modules with a high quality wave pattern, smaller size and lower power consumption, which will be ideal for XFP and SFP+(2) applications,” said Masayuki Tsuboi, President of Optical Components Company at Oki Electric Industry, in a statement.
The KGL5115KD operates on a power supply of 3.3-V. It is manufactured using OKI's GaAs PHEMT(3), a high-speed compound semiconductor process using a 2-dimensional electron gas layer as a channel. As a result, OKI reduced power consumption by 25% compared to conventional models.
