Fingerprint sensor delivers improved imaging, durability and ESD protection

Melbourne, Fla. — AuthenTec has added the AES2550 fingerprint sensor to its product portfolio for notebook computers, PCs and PC peripherals. The AES2550 offers improved fingerprint imaging, sensor durability and ESD protection compared to the existing AES2501.

The AES2550, with a high-definition 192 x 8 pixel array (500 pixels per inch), offers Power of Touch features such as TrueYou personalization and TruNav navigation. In addition to simplifying PC login, the AES2550 sensor's AlwaysOn authentication capability reduces security risks if a PC is lost or stolen, and allows users to leave their PCs unattended without fear that an unauthorized person might tamper with stored or network files.

The AES2550 also incorporates the company's TruePrint technology for accurate and reliable fingerprint imaging, TrueMatch pattern matching technology that accommodates different swipe angles and TrueFinger anti-spoofing protection.

Other key features include an advanced durable surface coating (6-H hardness), IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 ESD protection, a serial flash interface and an USB 2.0 full-speed interface.

Pricing: Approximately $5.75 in quantities of 1,000.
Availability: The AES2550 is shipping to select customers now with general availability in the third quarter of 2008.
Product information: AES2550
