Gate driver housed in small SO-8 package

San Jose, Calif. — Avago Technologies says it has introduced the industry's smallest 2.5-A gate drive optocoupler, housed in a stretched SO-8 package, which is 40 percent smaller than DIP packaging. With under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and low current consumption, the ACPL-H312 addresses isolation needs where space and efficiency are a premium such as in IGBT/power MOSFET gate drives, AC and brushless DC motor drives, industrial inverters, air conditioners, washing machines and switching power supplies.

With a maximum high output peak current of 2.5 A, the highly integrated ACPL-H312 provides UVLO to prevent application malfunction, a low IC supply current consumption of 3.0 mA, and a high working voltage equal to 891 V. This small optocoupler also supplies a common mode rejection (CMR) rate up to 15 kV per microsecond to ensure reliable operation under noisy environments.

The ACPL-H312 supports temperature ranges up to 100°C and is said to be the industry's smallest 2-A gate driver that meets 8-mm creepage and 7-mm clearance. The product satisfies all major opto-isolation safety standards including UL, CSA, and IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-2.

Pricing: Starts at $1.35 in quantities of 10,000.
