GE Fanuc rolls 2/3+ GbE switches

Charlottesville, Va.—Tailored for military, telecommunications and commercial applications, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems added three products to its Neternity family of fully managed layer 2/3+ Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switches that are the first to feature its OpenWare switch management environment.

They include the Neternity RM921 6U VME switch; the RoHS-compliant Neternity RM922RC 6U VME switch; and the Neternity CP921RC RoHS-compliant PICMG 2.16 6U CompactPCI switch.

The RM921, RM922RC and CP921RC support 24 copper ports, with the RM921 being optionally available with 12 ports, and are characterized by their support of IPv4 for legacy communications environments and hardware enabled IPv6 for future applications. Conformal coating is an option for all three boards.

The RM921, RM922RC and CP921RC are the first in the Neternity family to feature the OpenWare switch management environment. OpenWare is portable across switch fabrics and processor environments, and is easy to customize using the familiar Linux command line interface. It is also designed to make selected GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Neternity switches easy to deploy and easy to manage. Switch management is also possible via remote access or using a management protocol such as SNMP.
