High-isolation switch saves board space

Woburn, Mass. — Skyworks Solutions, Inc. said it has introduced the industry's highest isolation switch with the lowest loss system performance available for the cellular
infrastructure market. The first in a series of upcoming solutions, the SKY13286-359LF is suitable for base station applications where synthesizer isolation is critical.

Enabled by Skyworks' patent pending sixth-generation pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) process, the SKY13286-359LF is a GaAs FET IC high isolation (60 db at 1 and 2 GHz) absorptive switch that is packaged in a 4 x 4 mm 16-lead QFN with an exposed pad plastic package. Key specs include a typical insertion loss of 0.80 to 1.80 db and frequency range of 100 MHz to 6 GHz. Other features include single positive voltage control, matched inputs and outputs, excellent output-to-output isolation, and lead-free, RoHS-compliant packaging, said the company.

Skyworks' high-isolation switches, which integrate silicon complementary metal-oxide
semiconductor (CMOS) drivers, also require fewer components, saving board space and allowing for enhanced architectures and lower overall system costs, said the company.
