LDOs provide high PSSR over frequency range of 10 MHz

Dallas, Texas — Texas Instruments introduced a family of dual, 200 mA low-dropout linear regulators (LDOs) in a 2 x 2-mm SON package for portable, battery-powered equipment. The low-noise LDOs provide high power-supply rejection ratio (PSRR) over a frequency range of up to 10 MHz, 160 µs start-up time, while consuming a total 90 µA ground current with both LDOs enabled.

The TPS719xx LDOs feature an active shutdown circuit to discharge capacitors at the output voltage. Discharging the capacitors to zero during shutdown helps to manage power-up when sequencing applications. The TPS719xx devices are stable with 1 µF ceramic capacitors, and use a linear Bi-CMOS process technology to yield a typical dropout voltage of 230 mV at 200 mA output loads. The LDOs also use a precision voltage reference and feedback loop to achieve a three percent overall accuracy over all load, line, process and temperature variations. Other features include multiple fixed-output voltage combinations from 0.9 V to 3.6 V, a PSRR of 65 dB at 1 kHz and 45 dB at 1 MHz and an active output pulldown.

The devices come in a 6-pin, 2 x 2-mm, SON package, which is targeted at portable applications, including mobile handsets, digital still cameras and wireless LAN applications.
