Low-power ADC simultaneously samples 6 differential inputs

Milpitas, Calif. — The LTC2351-14 from Linear Technology is a 1.5 Msample/s low-power analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with six simultaneous-sampling differential inputs. Operating from a single 3.3-V supply, power dissipation is typically 16.5 mW. The ADC features six individual sample-and-hold amplifiers and a multiplexer and targets multiphase power measurement, multiphase motor control, data acquisition systems and uninterrupted power supplies. It comes in a 5-x 5-mm QFN package

Power dissipation can be reduced to 4.5 mW in nap mode with the internal 2.5-V reference remaining active, and to 12μW in sleep mode, with all internal circuitry powered down. The internal 2.5-V reference can be overdriven with an external reference, up to the analog supply voltage. The device also converts 0- to 2.5-V unipolar inputs differentially, or 1.25-V bipolar inputs also differentially, depending on the state of the BIP pin. Any analog input may swing rail-to-rail as long as the differential input range is maintained.
