AKM Semiconductor has introduced the AK4953A 24-bit low-power stereo audio codec aimed at delivering high-quality audio in mobile multimedia devices. Featuring a microphone, headphone and speaker amplifiers, the device consumes 3.3 mA in record mode and 3.6 mA in headphone playback mode.
The AK4953A operates from a 3.0- or 3.3-V typ core supply, with a 1.8-V digital supply and a speaker driver supply ranging from 0.9 to 5.5 V. Speaker driver output is up to 400 mW at -70 dB THD+N and 95 dB SNR.
Other key features include:
- 96 dB dynamic range (ADC and DAC)
- Digital ALC
- 5-band EQ and notch
- Wind noise reduction
- Digital volume control (+12dB ~ -115dB, 0.5dB Step, Mute)
- No output AC coupling capacitors
- Sampling from 8 to 96 kHz
- Integrated LDO
The AK4953A is available in a 36-pin 5 x 5 x 0.4-mm QFN package starting from $1.53 ea/10,000. Evaluation boards (AKD4953A) and samples are available now.
