Re: New IoT Device on Kickstarter
What is the use if the device can be on-shelf without doing anything for 5 years.

@amrutah, that is a very valid point. But still having a standby time of 5 years will catch the attention of many users.

@SachinEE: What is the use if the device can be on-shelf without doing anything for 5 years.  Its just a  number quoted to show that the product has good design (low leakage etc.), but when looking at the operational features I see it no different competing to a smartphone.

Re: New IoT Device on Kickstarter
Also when I see the other applications, it is not much different than the smartphones available in market.  What is its main USP?

@amrutah, I think one of the main USP of this device is its low power device which has a standby time of 5 years. I am sure you wont get to see such features in smartphones.

You should probably check the converters from TI, which have a very high configurability and device form factors.

@amrutah, can you please share the exact converter link from TI. I tried searching on net but I am not sure if I am referring to the same link.

Re: New IoT Device on Kickstarter
@SunitaT0: Yes, I agree.  I see most of its feature resemble a smartphone.  But, I think this device helps to play with the OS and apps for developers and programming enthusiasts.  I don't think this is allowing its users to configure different hardware something like modular designs.

"It is a different device and not a phone."

@Giango,

     When I visit the site that you mentioned, it has phone applications.  Also when I see the other applications, it is not much different than the smartphones available in market.  What is its main USP?
