Learn the ropes
It must have been such a rewarding and educational experience having to learn from the expert himself. This is the best way indeed to learn the ropes about any particular process that we might have in mind. Reading up and gaining experience make up part and parcel of the learning curve but to hear from the horse's mouth is what matters.

I'm interested to know about those Russian winters actually! But of course having the opportunity to talk to a professional about technical issues and shedding some light on some of the questions you may have had in your head ranks way up there with them too! Sounds like you had a good meeting with the guy eh?

Piezoelectronics for everyone
I find PZ stuff very interesting.  For me, using them in actuators is intriguing.  I've seen commercial applications in things as varied as fuel injectors and motion stages.
