San Jose, Calif.Micrel Inc. has launched the SY89610L, a precision frequency synthesizer featuring ultra-low jitter.
The SY89610L is targeted at datacom, telecom, servers and storage markets, specifically SONET/SDH, 10GeB FEC, 10GeB LAN PHY and add-drop MUXs applications.
According to Micrel the SY89610L tames jitter by offering output of typically 1ps_rms compared with other synthesizers, which typically have 40ps_rms jitter.
The SY89610L takes in selected frequency clocks between 19MHz and 694MHz and puts out selected frequency with very low jitter. The device input accepts AC- or DC-coupled differential signals such as LVDS, LVPECL, and CML for maximum flexibility. This IC has an LC tank VCO and auto-tune circuit that improves signal performance. It is offered in a space-saving, 32-pin MLF package. The SY89610L does not require any external components, lowering BOM even further.
Pricing: $12.84 for 1,000-unit quantities.
