Amsterdam, The NetherlandsXilinx Inc. announced the availability of a high definition (HD) real-time MPEG4 AVC/H.264 encoder product that leverages the high-performance features of its Virtex-5 FPGAs.
The product is based on ATEME's HD H.264 encoding platform, suitable for markets such as IPTV and satellite broadcast that require video quality at the low bit rates. The Virtex-5 FPGA-based product delivers the programmability and computing power required to deliver HD video quality.
ATEME's HD platform is designed to handle 720p60 or 1080i30 HD content and encodes in H.264/AVC main and high profile at bit rates ranging from approximately 3-Mbits/s for IPTV applications, while supporting bit rates for contribution and archive server applications.
The HD real-time MPEG4 AVC/H.264 encoder product will be available in the fourth quarter of 2007.
