Planet Analog Spotlight on Steve Sandler, CEO – Picotest

Mr. Steve Sandler is the CEO of, a company that designs and distributes test equipment including the new Signal Injector product line designed for testing power systems.

Sandler carries on in the same spirit as Jim Williams’ legacy—enthusiasm and energy, and giving back to the community through engineering education. He has written books, volunteers at conferences, and gives seminars to share his knowledge with others.

This year Sandler has won the coveted Jim Williams Contributor of the Year Award. Read about it on EDN here.

Sandler has also been named a finalist for Test & Measurement World’s Test Engineer of the year two years in a row (2012-2013). He is the author of the book “Power Integrity – Measuring, Optimizing and Troubleshooting Power Systems” which is used as the basis for the Test and Measurement workshop. I reviewed this excellent book on EDN.

Sandler has over 30 years of experience in the design and analysis of power conversion equipment for military and space applications. Check out his lab here.

Mr. Sandler is the author of several other books and numerous articles on power supply modeling and simulation including, “Switchmode Power Supply Simulation with PSpice”, and “SPICE Circuit Handbook”.

He received his BSEE degree from Pacific Western University.

Sandler is also a Keysight Certified Expert.

He also writes numerous articles for EDN and is committed to engineering education.

    We need to see more enthusiastic and down to Earth leaders in the tech industry I think. I'm pretty sure that everyone here has already read about one CEO from Tesla has been behaving. If we had more of that kind of leader and business owners, I think we might as well just fold up shop and stop bothering to try and do things for the world. Nobody is going to take the businesses seriously like that!
