Rail-To-Rail Output OpAmps – ideal for video applications

Analog Devices introduced the ADA4851-1 (single), ADA4851-2 (dual) and ADA4851-4 (quad), a family of voltage-feedback rail-to-rail output operational amplifiers.

These amplifiers provide cost-sensitive manufacturers with the performance needed for cutting-edge consumer applications such as TVs, set-top boxes, portable media players, electronic game devices, and power line modems. Designers of products for these applications have had to make trade-offs between performance and cost.

The ADA4851-x family eases the pain of such trade-offs by offering high-speed, rail-to-rail output and low power, enabling high quality signal processing for standard definition video, communications, and automotive telematics, without the price premium of competing solutions. The ADA4851-x family combines bandwidth of 175 MHz, 250-V/ms slew rate, and 0.1% settling in 25 ns, with only 3 mA /amplifier of quiescent current.

The op amps provide true single-supply capability, allowing the signal levels on the input to extend 200 mV below negative rail. The output can swing to within 50 mV of either rail. The units offer 0.1-dB flatness out to 15 MHz. With differential gain and phase of 0.05% and 0.05&#176 respectively, the ADA4851-x family is ideal for video applications.

These op amps work well with Analog Devices' ADV719-x family of video encoders and the new ADV718-x generation of multi-format video decoders. The family is sampling now and is available in the following space-saving packaging options: SOT23-6 (small outline transistor), uSOIC-8 (small outline integrated circuit), and TSSOP-14 (thin shrink small outline integrated circuit).

The ADA4851-1 is priced at $0.55 per unit in 1,000-piece quantities. The ADA4851-2 is priced at $0.79 in 1,000-piece quantities, and the ADA4851-4 is priced at $1.09 in 1,000-piece quantities.
