Sunnyvale, Calif.—Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the DS1372 real-time clock (RTC) with a binary counter and unique 64-bitserial number for digital data applications.
Digital rights management (DRM) software requires a time stamp for file downloads and a unique serial number for identifying an authorized player. The DS1372's integrates a binary counter and unique 64-bit serial number, which is factory-lasered into the device. As a result, the DS1372 satisfies DRM requirements, enables designers to reduce system component count and use a less expensive processor.
Packaged in an 8-pin microSOP, the DS1372 is well-suited for use in MP3/MP4/PMP players, personal video recorders (PVRs), digital cameras, and point-of-sale (POS) terminals. The DS1372 consumes 450nA (typ) at 3V.
