Scientists determine that Maxwell’s electric field theory is in error

Today it was revealed that James Clerk Maxwell’s electric field theory is all wrong!

Maxwell had stated, “Before I began the study of electricity I resolved to read no mathematics on the subject until I had first read [Faraday].”

There was one major problem—-Faraday had dyslexia! His memory played tricks on him and he could not handle mathematics well; however, he did have a powerful visual sense. Faraday could build a mental picture of lines of force, filling space, shaping themselves in arrays.

So, all of Maxwell’s equations need to be reversed! For example, in Gauss’ Law for electric fields, we would have the integral of A dot E instead of E dot A = q/ε0

So, all current and magnetic field directions are the reverse of what we were taught in engineering courses. Text book will have to be re-written, curriculum changed, and all physical phenomena needs to be re-evaluated in electric and magnetic field theory!

Just kidding—April Fool!!!!!

But Faraday WAS Dyslexic!

That was sooo unnecessary.  If you need to validate your influence upon others, please leave poor Maxwell out of it.  Between losing his exclusive claim to electromagnetic theory to Oliver Heavysides and your outing him on his dislexia, the guy just cannot catch a break.  Isn't it enough that he single handedly created the electrical revolution that is still going on today?  You should calculate field integrals for a few hours and think about what you have done here.  April Fools.

    Hi Chuck,

Mea Culpa—-As self-flaggelation–I am going to calculate some path and surface integrals, construct a parallel plate capacitor, and do some calculations for finding the speed of an outgoing field front—-I see the light now!

You are dislexic.  He said that FARADAY, Not MAXWELL was dislexic.

That may be even worse. I got the message through a newsletter and ran to read it. It must happen to many people. Very bad!

Such people are candidates for joining the DNA, the National Dyslexics Association!

It is impressive that a person with a literacy disability could work out a remarkable formula that is a breakthrough to the industry. Thankfully this article is just a bad April fool's joke, otherwise there is just too much to absorb all over again from scratch. I guess if you really put in that much effort into something that you have been working on, then nothing becomes impossible. You just need to be motivated enough to persevere and move forward regardless of the industry that you are in.
