Signal-supply op amp achieves ultra-low noise

Milpitas, Calif. &#151 Intersil Corp. has added four single-supply op amps — ISL28190, ISL28290, ISL28191 and ISL28291 — to its family of pinPOINT precision analog products that are said to deliver noise performance up to four times better than similar competitive devices. The company says the ISL28X90 sets the new industry standard for single-supply, rail-to-rail output op amps at 1.0 nV/rt(Hz), while the ISL28X91 comes in at 1.7 nV/rt(Hz).

Touted as the industry's first ultra-low noise, single-supply op amps, these pinPOINT devices allow designers to simplify designs by achieving noise performance previously only attained with dual supply devices. The devices also offer harmonic distortion (THD+N) at 0.00017% (ISL28X90) and 0.00018% (ISL28X91), which make the rail-to-rail output op amps suitable for noise-sensitive audio, medical and industrial instrumentation applications.

These op amps are optimized for operation at 5 V and below, with the single-channel amplifiers offered in a space-saving SOT23 package while the dual-channel amplifiers are offered in a 10-lead MSOP package. All of Intersil's op amps are specified over the full automotive temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.

Pricing: The ISL28190 is available in quantities of 1,000 in 6-lead SOT-23 packages starting at $1.58 each. The ISL28290 is available in quantities of 1,000 in 10-lead MSOP packages starting at $2.61 each (tape and reel available). The ISL28191 is available in quantities of 1,000 in 6-lead SOT-23 packages starting at $1.32 each. The ISL28291 is available in quantities of 1,000 in 10-lead MSOP packages starting at $2.38 each (tape and reel available).
Availability: Single-channel amps in 1.6 x 1.6-mm micro-TDFN package and dual-channel amps in the 1.8 x 1.4-mm micro-TDFN package are now sampling.
