Sunnyvale, Calif.Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX3541 single-conversion, hybrid (analog and digital) television tuner.
Integrating a tracking filter, RF and IF VGAs, and VCOs, this device consumes 760mW from a single +3.3V supply. Unlike dual-conversion canned tuner products, the MAX3541 employs a single-conversion architecture. It requires only one external SAW filter, a crystal, and a few discrete components in order to complete the solution, thus providing a cost-competitive alternative to canned tuners.
The MAX3541 has a standard, 36MHz IF output for DVB-T, PAL, and SECAM applications that require both analog and digital reception. Consequently, it is suitable for stationary and automotive TVs, as well as set-top boxes.
The MAX3541 is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended industrial temperature range and is available in a 7mm x 7mm, 48-pin flip-chip (fcLGA) package.
Pricing: Starts at $5 (1000-up, FOB USA).
