Single/dual/quad comparators draw just 8.5 microamps per input

Raleigh, NC&#8212austriamicrosystems' initial line of comparators, its AS1970-75 family, available in single, dual, and quad versions, tout low power consumption&#8212down to 8.5 microamps per input, for a variety of battery powered applications.

“Because of the unique design of its output stage, the AS1970-75 family virtually eliminates supply-current glitches typical of many other comparators,” said Walter Moshammer, director of marketing for standard linear products. “The jutting architecture also dramatically increases battery life, even in high-speed applications.”

These devices, which run from a single 2.5 to 5.5-volt supply, or from ±1.25 to ±2.75V supplies, can be powered by just two AA cells. Features include low input bias current (1 pA), low input offset voltage (0.5 mV), and hysteresis of 3 mV.

The AS1970/72/74 source-sink devices have a push/pull output stage. The AS1972/73/75 have an open-drain output stage that can be pulled beyond VCC , and thus they are suitable for mixed-voltage designs, logic-level translators and bipolar-to-unipolar converters. Large internal output drivers allow rail-to-rail output swings with loads up to 8 mA.
