Single supply LDOs tout low input voltages of 1.65V

San Jose, Calif.—Micrel Inc. rolled out the MIC6910x/15x/30x, a family of very low voltage linear regulators that operate from an input voltage as low as 1.65V.

Aimed at the industrial, medical, communications, computing and consumer markets, the high-current, single supply LDO family is targeted at servers/routers, computing peripherals, LCD/Plasma TV and industrial/medical point-of-load applications.

The MIC6910x/15x/30x series features single supply operation from 5.5V down to as low as 1.65V with ±1 percent initial output accuracy. The devices are stable with ceramic capacitors and are available in currents ranging up to 3A for the MIC69301/2, 1.5A for the MIC69151/3 and 1A for the MIC69101/3.

The ICs give designers the flexibility of different current options while offering a cost savings by reducing the required number of external components. These linear regulators feature line and load regulation and logic controlled shutdown and protection features such as thermal shutdown and current limit. In addition to enhanced power handling capability/ reliability, the devices come in thermally enhanced packages e-Pad SO-8, MLF(R) and S-PAK.
