T-DMB receiver integrates RF tuner, baseband chip

London—Frontier Silicon has extended its mobile TV chip line with a single-chip receiver for T-DMB and DAB-IP broadcasts.

The Paradiso 1T (FS1032) comes in a system-in-package (SiP), integrating the Paradiso multi-standard baseband IC with an RF tuner and ancillary passive components.

The FS1032 employs Frontier Silicon's digiSHIELD technology. When two dies are stacked closely together, the coupling of clock noise and digital interference from a baseband die to the RF tuner is magnified.

Frontier Silicon's digiSHIELD technology has neutralized this, applying noise suppression techniques to minimize coupling, maximizing RF sensitivity and adjacent channel rejection performance.

The SiP offers handset makers performance that exceeds CENELEC (EN50248) requirements, including power consumption of less than 140 mW with a significantly reduced footprint and component count.

Paradiso 1T supports all modes of DAB, T-DMB and DAB-IP—mobile TV broadcasting standards that are currently in commercial use.

Availability: Sampling; mass production in the third quarter of 2007.
