Simplifying high-current power supply designs, Texas Instruments announced a multi-phase synchronous DC/DC buck controller with integrated adaptive gate drivers.
The flexible power management device saves valuable board space and simplifies power design for dual-channel, multi-phase systems supporting up to 60 A, such as double-data rate (DDR) memory banks, point-of-load DC/DC converters, digital signal processors (DSPs) and ASICs used in telecom and networking power supplies.
The TPS40130 provides significantly higher performance and power efficiency over competing pulse-width modulation (PWM) power supply solutions. The controller can support input voltages from 3 V to 40 V, with output voltages from 0.7 V to 6 V at greater than 90% efficiency.
