Tiny analog switches target tight spaces

Phoenix, Ariz. — ON Semiconductor rolled out a trio of low resistance analog switches for portable and wireless audio applications that it says are the smallest and highest performing available.

On Semi's NLAS3799MNR2G is a low voltage (1.65 V to 3.6-V single supply operation), dual, double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) switch. It achieves total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.11 percent and on resistance R(ON) of 0.35 ohm. The NLAS3799LMNR2G, a low voltage logic level version, can operate with a 1.8-volt input swing. These parts are available in a lead-free 16-lead TQFN that measures 2.6 x 1.8 mm.

The NLAS5223MNR2G is a low voltage (1.65 V to 3.6-V single supply operation), dual, single-pole, double- throw (SPDT) switch. It achieves total harmonic distortion of 0.12 percent and R(ON) of 0.35 ohm. The logic level version (NLAS5223LMNR2G) can operate with a 1.8-V input swing. This part comes in a lead free, 10-lead, TQFN that measures 1.4 x 1.8 mm.

The NLAS5123MNR2G (1.65 V to 5.5-V single supply operation) is a 1-ohm, single SPDT analog switch with 0.012 percent THD and break-before-make capability. It is available in a lead-free, 6-lead, TDFN that measures 1.2 x 1.0 mm.

Designed especially for high-current switching, target applications include cellular phones, PDA's and MP3 players. These parts have already been designed into some of ON Semi's customers' cell phones, said Dan Huettl, director for ON Semiconductor's Logic and Analog Switch business unit.

The NLAS3799MNR2G switches are priced at 97 cents each in 10,000-unit quantities.
