Video scaling ICs offer deinterlacing support, HDMI 1.3 deep color, and xvYCC capabilities

Built on Anchor Bay's proprietary Video Reference Series (VRS) 10-bit Precision Video Scaling technology, Anchor Bay's new low-cost ABT1012 and ABT1015 ICs are designed to independently scale SD and HD images horizontally and vertically for outstanding picture quality up to 1080p resolutions.

The ABT1012 offers an identical pin-out to the ABT1010, Anchor Bay's second generation scaler chip that is widely used in DVD players and AV Receivers. The ABT1015 is HDMI 1.3 compatible with Deep Color (36-bit inputs and outputs) and xvYCC colorimetry capabilities. Both chips provide up-conversion from 480p, 576p, 1080p, 720p, and 1080i, and output any resolution from VGA (640×480) to 1080p (1920×1080) without ringing or other artifacts.

In addition to scaling, the ABT1012 and ABT1015 offer basic 480i and 576i deinterlacing support. The new ICs also support 1080p pass-through with picture controls and embedded sync input and output.

Now, we follow up with two new scaler products, the ABT1012 and ABT1015, which are derived from the ABT2010 VRS technologies,” said Doug Fealtman, CEO of Anchor Bay. “Anchor Bay has raised the performance bar for consumer electronics applications which require low cost, high performance video scaling.”
