Voltage reference optimizes high-resolution A/D converter performance

Dallas, Tex.—Texas Instruments Inc. has introduced a 3ppm/°C (max) temperature drift, low cost CMOS voltage reference family that features system performance comparable to costly buried zener technologies.

The REF50xx voltage reference family is designed for next-generation industrial process control, but is also well-suited for medical instrumentation, precision data acquisition and test and measurement applications.

The REF50xx has high output current of ±10-mA that provides accurate voltage reference to the A/D converter without an additional op amp buffer. High accuracy (0.05 percent max) and low output voltage noise (7.5uVpp for 2.5V output) enable peak performance of the A/D converter in high-resolution applications.

The REF50xx offers a wide supply range of VOUT + 0.2V to 18V, and six output voltages: 2.048V (REF5020), 2.5V (REF5025), 3.0V (REF5030), 4.096V (REF5040), 4.5V (REF5045) and 5V (REF5050).

Pricing: The standard grade devices are priced from $1.85 and the high-grade devices are priced from $3.50 in 1,000 piece quantities.
Availability: Now in both standard- and high-grade versions in SO-8 packages. MSOP-8 packages will be offered in 3Q 2007.
